Gucci apologises for jumper that sparked 'blackface' backlash
Gucci has apologised over a jumper that prompted social media backlash when users complained that it 'resembled blackface'.
The brand sparked outrage with the design, and following complaints online they have issued a statement over the design. "We consider diversity to be a fundamental value to be fully upheld, respected, and at the forefront of every decision we make," the statement read.

The black "balaclava jumper" from Gucci's autumn/winter 2018 collection, which was being sold for £700, covered the bottom half of the face and featured a mouth cut-out outlined in red.
After pictures of the jumper appeared online, many Twitter users claimed the style was offensive as it resembled racist blackface stereotypes.
One person wrote: "Gucci made a very racist sweater. I still can't figure out why they thought this was ok?!"
Another questioned: "Why is it impossible for these labels to be fashionable without oppressing minorities?"
