Fashion and film is always a match made in heaven: Wes Anderson meets Prada, Spike Jonze meets Kenzo, Harmony Korine meets Supreme, the coming together of directors and brands brings fashion to life. Arguably one of the greatest directors of our time is the next in line to breathe innovation into next years collection. Having directed aesthetic masterpieces like 1984’s Paris, Texas and 1987’s Wings of Desire it’s no wonder a distinct design house like Jil Sander have tapped into his intensely intricate artistic eye.
A soulfully sophisticated collection for Spring Summer 2018, the film encapsulates the delicacy of the fabrics in subtle emotions and the sharpness of the tailoring with jolted glances. Filmed in Berlin, Germany – Wenders’ home country – the campaign will take form of 5 short films over December, and this is the first to come out. The focus will be on being ‘paused’ by the director, permeating a sense of expectation, of suspending time and space – leaving us captivated and curious.
